Raske fakta: Denne festningen troner på en 20 meter høy klippe som reiser seg over wadi-dalen. Murene er opptil 3 meter tykke, og innenfor skjuler det seg underjordiske tunneler som førte til hemmelige vannkilder.
Høydepunkter: Fra tårnet åpner det seg det eneste stedet i Oman hvor ørkenen møter havet, et syn fotografer ville gitt halve utstyret sitt for. På festningsmurene er det fremdeles synlige gamle innskrifter etterlatt av portugisiske sjøfolk for 400 år siden.

- Don't miss the chance to climb to the very top tower: it offers the best view over the entire bay and the city.
- Come on weekdays, when there are almost no visitors, while on weekends local families have picnics here.
- Try to find the old Portuguese carved marks on the southern wall: it is a detail known to very few.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the steps are stone and quite steep, and handrails are not everywhere.
