Best in the morning right after opening at 9:00 AM, when the crowds are smallest and the morning light beautifully illuminates the Gothic windows in the knights' hall. In autumn, the surrounding forests burst with colors, which enhances the atmosphere of the entire grounds.

Budsjettips

Basic admission costs 70 lei (approx. 350 CZK), with discounts for students and seniors. If you plan to visit the nearby Râșnov Fortress as well, get a combined ticket for 90 lei.

Raske fakta: Over 600 000 besøkende kommer hit hvert år for å se med egne øyne stedet som er knyttet til legenden om Dracula. I virkeligheten bodde Vlad Spidderen, som angivelig var forbildet for vampyrgreven, aldri her. Slottet fungerte hovedsakelig som tollfestning og kongelig residens.

Høydepunkter: På borggården finnes den opprinnelige steinbrønnen på 60 meter, som en gang ble gravd ut for hånd av tyrkiske fanger. I kjelleren ser du en hemmelig gang som forbandt slottet med de omkringliggende skogene og fungerte som rømningsvei for kongefamilien.

Do not arrive at noon between 12:00 and 2:00 PM, as most organized tours from Brașov arrive at that time.
Instead of standing in the hour-long line at the main gate, use the side entrance through Queen Marie's Tea House. It is almost line-free.
The best photo of the castle is taken from the viewpoint by the road below the castle, where the entire silhouette including the towers is in the frame.
It is not worth buying souvenirs from the first stall at the castle. A few meters further in the foothills, they sell them for half the price.
