Korte feiten: Dit is een van de weinige katholieke kerken in Noord-Afrika, gebouwd als eerbetoon aan de Moeder Gods, alsof zij op een troon is geplaatst, met direct uitzicht op de Middellandse Zee. De ronde koepel van het koor is al van verre zichtbaar vanaf zee en binnen in de kerk hangt een beeld van Maria op 10 meter hoogte onder het plafond.

Hoogtepunten: Op het hoofdaltaar van de kerk staat een zwart Mariabeeld dat de eenheid van de Afrikaanse volkeren symboliseert en onder pelgrims de bijnaam "Onze Vrouwe van Afrika" heeft gekregen. Wie op het terras voor de kerk staat, heeft uitzicht over de hele baai van Algiers, en de lokale bevolking zegt dat je bij helder weer zelfs Kaap Matifou kunt zien op 20 kilometer afstand.
