Korte feiten: De veerboottocht naar Dachen Island duurt ongeveer twee uur vanaf de Jiaojiang-pier in Taizhou en steekt wateren over die bekendstaan om hun gewaardeerde gele croaker-vis. Deze eilanden herbergen de oudste nog werkende vuurtoren van China, die sinds 1863 schepen leidt met zijn kenmerkende witte stenen toren.

Hoogtepunten: De veerboottocht biedt een plek op de eerste rij bij de werkende vissersvloot van Taizhou, met tientallen felgekleurde boten die naast uw schip hun netten binnenhalen. Op heldere ochtenden doemt de vuurtoren uit de 19e eeuw op uit de zeemist als de lantaarn van een spookschip. De originele, in Frankrijk gemaakte fresnellens werpt nog altijd lichtbundels tot 25 zeemijlen de zee in.
