Korte feiten: Het museum is gevestigd in een 15e-eeuws patriciërspaleis dat ooit toebehoorde aan de adellijke familie Grisogono, waarvan de stenen binnenplaats nog steeds eeuwen van door zout aangetaste Dalmatische graffiti draagt. Meer dan 30.000 artefacten vullen de zalen, van ingewikkelde volkskostuums met gouden draden tot olijvenpersen die ruiken naar hout en oude olie.
Hoogtepunten: Verborgen in de galerie op de bovenste verdieping van het museum bevindt zich een complete 19e-eeuwse slaapkamer uit Split, waarvan de handbeschilderde uitzetkist nog steeds ruikt naar lavendel en bijenwas van de lokale eilanden. De houten plafondbalken zijn versierd met apotropische symbolen, kleine kruisjes en ogen die boze geesten op afstand moesten houden terwijl de familie sliep.
