Hoogtepunten: After rains, dozens of temporary waterfalls cascade down the rocky cliffs along the park's eastern ridge, some plunging 30 meters or more. Local families know to arrive at dawn after a storm to catch these fleeting falls before the sun burns them away by midday.

- Start at Turtle Lake and walk clockwise around the loop trail to catch the best views of the city before the afternoon haze sets in.
- Wear sturdy hiking shoes even for the shorter trails; loose gravel and steep sections make the paths trickier than they look on the map.
- Pack a picnic and swimwear, the rocky beach at the northern edge of Turtle Lake is a favorite local spot for a midday dip in summer.
- Skip the cable car on weekends when queues can stretch 40 minutes, instead take bus 61 from the city center directly to the main entrance.
