Insidertips
- Bring a light jacket even if it is hot outside, the underground temperature hovers around 15 degrees all year round.
- The tomb of Peter and Paul has the best-preserved frescoes; focus on that room if you have little time.
- Flash photography is prohibited, but with a modern phone in night mode you will get good pictures of the frescoes.
- First visit the interpretation center upstairs to understand the historical context before going down to the tombs.
