Király Street

Beste tijd om te bezoeken

Late afternoon on weekdays, when golden light hits the decorative facades and the street is quieter. Spring and early fall offer comfortable temperatures for strolling without summer crowds.

Budgettips

Free to explore anytime. Grab a coffee (around 500 HUF) at one of the courtyard cafes instead of street-facing ones, where prices are higher for the same quality.

Insidertips

  • Cross the street every few minutes and look back at the facades across the way, you will notice details like Zsolnay ceramic tiles and wrought-iron balconies you missed up close.
  • Visit the Kiraly Street flea market that pops up on Saturday mornings near the Zsolnay fountain, good for vintage communist-era knick-knacks.
  • Pop into the courtyard at number 15 for a peek at the restored art nouveau stairwell with original stained glass, most tourists walk right past the entrance.
  • Wear comfortable shoes with grip, some sections of the pavement have uneven cobblestones and slick metal cellar covers.
