Korte feiten: Een 35 meter lang beeld van een zeemeermin van kunstenaar Kanayi Kunhiraman rijst op uit het zand en is uitgegroeid tot het vanzelfsprekende ontmoetingspunt van het strand. De vliegtuigen die landen op de nabijgelegen luchthaven komen zo laag over het water dat de hele landingsmanoeuvre zich recht voor de strandgasten afspeelt.
Hoogtepunten: De zeemeermin Jalakanyaka heeft haar gezicht naar de zee gericht en fungeert als het stille symbool van het strand, gemaakt door dezelfde kunstenaar die veel van de openbare sculpturen in de regio vormgaf. Bij laagwater komt honderden meters hard zand bloot te liggen waar gezinnen tussen gestrande boten door waden, ver voorbij de krachtige branding.
