Korte feiten: Meer dan 30 vogelsoorten bezoeken dit heiligdom dagelijks, aangetrokken door schalen met vers fruit en zelfgemaakte nectar. Bezoekers kunnen vogels direct uit hun handen voeren, waaronder de levendige breedbekkolibries die snelheden tot 50 kilometer per uur halen.
Hoogtepunten: De vrouwtjes van de breedbekkolibrie bouwen nestjes ter grootte van een vingerhoed met spinnenwebben en korstmossen, en je kunt ze in de lente eieren zien uitbroeden ter grootte van koffiebonen. Een lokale vrouw genaamd Lisa voedt de vogels al 15 jaar en kent elke soort bij naam, roepend met specifieke fluittonen die ze herkennen.

- Wear bright colored clothes: hummingbirds are attracted to shades of red, orange and pink and will fly closer to you.
- Stay still with the palm of your hand open and flat for a few minutes: the most confident birds will land to feed.
- Avoid strong scented perfumes and lotions, as they scare away the birds and interfere with the experience.
- Schedule your visit for weekdays, when there are fewer tourists and the birds are more receptive.
