Hoogtepunten: Binnen wordt de enorme houten koepel gedragen door 13.659 palen die diep in de zachte Amsterdamse grond zijn geslagen, een staaltje ingenieurskunst uit de 17e eeuw. De grote balzaal heeft een plafondschildering van kunstenaar Govert Flinck van 62 vierkante meter die de Gouden Eeuw van de Republiek der Verenigde Nederlanden afbeeldt met levendige allegorieën van vrede en handel.
