Hoogtepunten: The glass-and-steel ceiling survived two world wars and decades of neglect, and the restoration team kept the original riveted ironwork intact. Slide into one of the long communal tables near the central fountain and watch chefs flame-grill meats from three different continents at once.

- Look for the small shops on the periphery, including a cheese counter and chocolate boutique, that get overlooked during meal rushes.
