Binnen onthullen een weelderige barokkapel en een klooster met blauw-witte azulejo-panelen verrassende koninklijke connecties, en af en toe laat een orgelrecital de stenen gewelven trillen.
Hoogtepunten: Gebouwd in de 12e eeuw, voelt het vestingachtige silhouet met twee kantelen en een gedrongen Romaanse schip als een terugkeer naar de 1100s, met vochtige stenen, vage wierookgeur en echo's die voetstappen doen weerklinken. Het klooster is bekleed met 18e-eeuwse blauw-witte azulejo's die bijbelse taferelen afbeelden. Hun geschilderde tegels flikkeren onder schuin licht terwijl versleten stenen trappen nog steeds de groeven van eeuwen pelgrimsvoeten dragen.
