Korte feiten: De zaal heeft zes balkonrijen en een kroonluchter met meer dan 13.000 kristallen die meer dan twee ton weegt. De beroemde akoestische schelp is gemaakt van nieuwzilver en vurenhout en is ontworpen om elke fluistering van het podium naar het bovenste balkon te projecteren.
Hoogtepunten: Elke voorstelling begint met het enorme gordijn van vijf ton, handbeschilderd met gouden taferelen uit de Russische folklore, dat in minder dan 30 seconden omhoog gaat. Er worden nergens op het podium microfoons gebruikt: de gehele zaal met 1.800 zitplaatsen vertrouwt uitsluitend op de natuurlijke akoestiek, dus zangers moeten hun stem tot het hoogste balkon laten dragen.
