Korte feiten: Het museum ligt direct boven een van de meest indrukwekkende rivierkloven van Europa, waar de Donau dramatisch versmalt en door de Karpaten stort. Het buitengedeelte toont authentieke Romeinse wegdelen die bijna 2.000 jaar geleden door de ingenieurs van keizer Trajanus in de kliffen zijn uitgehouwen.
Hoogtepunten: Een enorme Romeinse tabula rasa, een stenen inscriptie die 50 meter hoog op de kliffen boven de Donau is uitgehakt, verkondigt de militaire triomf van Trajanus aan passerende boten. Je kunt op hetzelfde stenen wegdek staan dat Romeinse legionairs gebruikten tijdens de Dacische Oorlogen, met diepe groeven die hun strijdwagenwielen nog altijd in het gesteente hebben uitgesleten.

- Skip the indoor exhibit first and head straight to the outdoor Roman road and Tabula Traiana carving behind the museum, then circle back inside.
- Bring polarized sunglasses for spotting the underwater remains of the ancient Roman bridge pillars visible through the river surface on calm days.
