Korte feiten: Het Carpaccio Plein is het centrale punt van de oude binnenstad van Koper, waar het imposante 15e-eeuwse Pretoriaanse Paleis uittorent. Elke dinsdag- en donderdagochtend verandert het plein in een levendige markt met lokale producten en verse vis.
Hoogtepunten: Het plein herbergt een van de weinige overgebleven middeleeuwse klokken die nog steeds werken met een handmatig mechanisme, dat nog altijd wordt afgesteld door een lokale klokkenmaker. Onder de stenen bogen is de echo van voetstappen te horen, vermengd met het getjilp van vogels die nestelen in de nissen van het paleis.

- Climb the bell tower of the cathedral (a few minutes on foot) for a panoramic view of the entire square and the harbor.
- Photograph the Praetorian Palace early in the morning, when the square is nearly empty and the light is soft.
- On Tuesdays and Thursdays, combine your visit with the morning market to see the square in its most authentic form.
- Avoid the square during official events if you prefer peace and want to enjoy the architecture without too many people.
