Korte feiten: Opgericht in 1810 ter ondersteuning van de lokale apotheek en medische faculteit, huisvest deze botanische tuin nog steeds enkele van de oorspronkelijke geneeskrachtige planten. Het bevat nu meer dan 4.500 plantensoorten uit Slovenië en van over de hele wereld, waaronder 200 die bedreigd zijn.

Hoogtepunten: Stap de alpenrotstuin binnen waar 800 soorten zich vastklampen aan kalkstenen rotsblokken, waaronder de zeldzame Zoisklokjesbloem die alleen in de Sloveense bergen voorkomt. De 200 jaar oude Ginkgo biloba boom van de tuin, geplant in de jaren 1820, verandert elke herfst van diepgroen naar schitterend goud.
