Korte feiten: Vulkanisch lava werd ongeveer een miljoen jaar geleden door de zee omhooggeduwd en verstijfde tot een 10 meter hoge drakenkop die uit de golven lijkt te drinken. Volgens een lokale legende werd de mythische draak door de bliksem getroffen en midden in een slok in steen veranderd, en na zonsondergang gloeit het gesteente goudkleurig onder schijnwerpers.
Hoogtepunten: Vanaf het kustpad bij laag tij kun je de gekrulde snuit en de geopende kaak van de draak duidelijk zien terwijl golven in zijn bek beuken. Probeer na 19.00 uur terug te keren, wanneer gekleurde schijnwerpers over het gesteente strijken en de hele formatie eruit laat zien als gloeiende sintels tegen de zwarte zee.

- Wear a windbreaker even in summer, since gusts off the sea are constant and spray drifts right onto the photo deck.
- Head to the western end of the path at high tide to catch waves exploding over the dragon's snout.
- Sunset photos work best from the stone platform near the parking lot, where the rock frames the horizon.
- Arrive before 10 a.m. to beat the coach tours that crowd the railings by midday.
