Early morning (before 9 a.m.), as the water is calmest at this time and the mountain reflections turn out perfectly. It is also good to come on weekdays to avoid crowds.

Over

Korte feiten: The lake is surrounded by rocks of bizarre shapes, and the water changes its hue from emerald to turquoise depending on the lighting. Each year, about 1.5 million tourists come here to walk along the wooden boardwalks by the shore and admire the reflection of the mountains.

Hoogtepunten: In calm weather, the surface of the lake turns into a perfect mirror, where the mountain ridges are duplicated with photographic precision. Early in the morning, when the fog spreads over the water, it seems as if the rocks are floating in the air.

Insidertips

  • The best shot opens from the stone viewing platform at the end of the wooden bridge; come there at sunrise.
  • Bring a thermos of hot tea with you: even in summer it is cool by the water in the morning, and sitting on a bench with a cup is especially pleasant.
  • Walk around the lake counterclockwise, so you will gradually see all the angles, and the most beautiful view will open up at the end.
  • Do not go in rainy weather: the water becomes turbid, the sky is gray, and the magic of reflections disappears.
