Meer dan zestig kraampjes verkopen dagelijks verse producten, maar de echte blikvanger van de markt zijn de tapasbars met zeevruchten die die ochtend zijn gevangen.
Hoogtepunten: In tegenstelling tot andere markten die aanvoelen als toeristische vallen, is dit waar lokale abuelitas nog steeds hun boodschappenkarretjes langs de paddestoelspecialist duwen die dertig soorten op voorraad heeft. Op zaterdagochtend zie je buren in de rij staan voor dezelfde tortilla Espanola-kraam die al sinds de oprichting van de markt in 1848 actief is, met stoom van de pannen die het kleurrijke dak boven hen beslaat.

- Skip the paella here; it's rarely made fresh in markets. Head straight to Barram or Ca l'Isidre for the best seafood.
- Look up as you enter: the colorful ceramic roof is actually shaped like the waves of the Mediterranean.
- Visit on a Saturday before noon to see whole fish laid out on ice in rainbow arrangements that photographers love.
- The market closes for siesta (2pm-5pm) so plan your tapas crawl accordingly or you'll find shuttered stalls.
