Korte feiten: Het park bevat het Monte Perdido-massief, de op twee na hoogste piek in de Pyreneeën met 3.355 meter. De gletsjervalleien, gevormd tijdens de ijstijd, creëren indrukwekkende kliffen en watervallen die hoger zijn dan 150 meter.

- Stock up on water at the Góriz mountain shelter, it is the last point with drinking water before the hardest section of the trail.
- Set off before 8:00 AM to enjoy empty paths, because after 10:00 the valley fills up with tour groups.
- Bring trekking poles, the descent from Cola de Caballo along rocky paths can be slippery even in dry weather.
- The best photos of the waterfalls are taken from the Faja de Pelay viewpoint, 200 meters above the valley floor.
