Korte feiten: Perched at 1,100 meters above sea level, this mountain village is the almond blossom capital of the Canary Islands, hosting a festival each February when 100,000 white and pink flowers blanket the slopes. The winding GC-15 drive to reach it carves through 60 hairpin turns across the dramatic volcanic caldera.
Hoogtepunten: On any clear morning, you can stand in the village square and watch clouds pour over the rim of the ancient volcanic caldera like a slow-motion waterfall, a phenomenon locals call "the sea of clouds." That same square holds the island's only surviving 18th-century pillory, a stone column where public punishments were once carried out, now topped with flowers.

- Sla de toeristische cafés op het hoofdplein over en loop twee straten bergafwaarts naar Dulceria Nublo voor frissere Bienmesabe voor de helft van de prijs.
- Parkeer op de eerste parkeerplaats die je ziet bij de dorpsingang, de straten worden daarna snel smaller en parkeermogelijkheden verdwijnen.
- Neem zelfs in de zomer een lichte jas mee, de hoogte van 1100 meter houdt de temperaturen 10°C koeler dan de kust.
- Bezoek het uitkijkpunt Mirador del Pico de las Nieves op de terugweg voor het beste panoramische uitzicht op de caldera tijdens het gouden uur.
