Hoogtepunten: Stap naar binnen en kijk omhoog: het verbluffende Platereske ijzeren hekwerk rond de koninklijke graven werd gesmeed uit 3.000 kilogram zilver dat uit Amerika werd teruggebracht. De koninklijke crypte eronder ligt in bijna duisternis, waar u Isabella's eenvoudige doodskist door een glazen paneel kunt zien, een nederige laatste rustplaats voor de koningin die Columbus financierde.

- Go down the stairs to the crypt, because that is where the royal sarcophagi are located, and most tourists only stop upstairs.
- Bring a 1 euro coin for the lighting in the sacristy display cases, otherwise the details of the golden reliquaries will remain in semi-darkness.
- Photography of the interior is allowed without flash, but the crypt is too dark for good photos, so focus on the altar and the Renaissance grilles.
- Combine the visit with a walk through Albaicín and the cathedral, since all three places are within a five-minute walk of each other.
