General entry costs 7 EUR, with free admission on Wednesdays and Sundays after 4:00 PM (closing at 6:30 PM). The Madrid City Pass or Paseo del Arte card does not include this museum, but students and seniors get reduced rates.

Korte feiten: Over 6 miljoen exemplaren vullen de collectiezalen, van dinosaurusskeletten tot glinsterende edelstenen. De sterattractie van het museum, een replica van een 14 meter lang Diplodocus-skelet, verwelkomt bezoekers direct in de entreehal.
Hoogtepunten: Een zaal herbergt het skelet van "Big Bertha," een 40 ton zware Afrikaanse olifant die ooit in de dierentuin van Madrid leefde, naast een angstaanjagend compleet Megatherium-luiaardfossiel uit Argentinië. De walvisgalerij hangt een 20 meter lang vinvisskelet aan het plafond, zodat u direct onder het op een na grootste dier op aarde kunt lopen.
Insidertips
- Head straight to the Biodiversity Hall on the top floor first, it's the most impressive and least crowded early in the day.
- Touch the 100-kilo meteorite in the Minerals Hall, it's one of the few exhibits you're actually allowed to handle.
- Skip the crowded ground floor T. rex area on weekends and save it for the last 30 minutes before closing.
- Photography without flash is permitted everywhere, the whale skeleton hall has great lighting around 2:00 PM.
