The wide meadow stays quiet even when the old town above is shoulder to shoulder with tour groups, and its low stone walls make natural benches for sitting a while.

Hoogtepunten: From this meadow, the fortress appears to float on its rocky spur, its pointed towers rising straight out of the Eresma gorge far below. Nearly every postcard view of that castle was shot from this exact spot, and at sunset the stone turns honey-gold while the sierra behind it fades to deep blue.
