About
Korte feiten: The salty smell of the sea and the slight creak of the pier boards are among the first sensory impressions that catch your attention as you walk along the quay. As nets are gathered, fresh fish are displayed on stalls along the shore and local fishermen sell their daily catch.
Hoogtepunten: The yellow lamps of 20 to 30 small fishing boats moored at the quay create bands on the water surface; as you walk you feel the boards' vibrations and the salty wind. According to a local tradition, some fishermen cast nets together in November and are said to distribute about 50 kilograms of the fish caught during the night to the neighborhood, and the morning market is full of the remnants of that sharing.
Insider tips
- Wear comfortable shoes, the quay and streets are cobbled and can be slippery when wet.
- Head to the southern pier by the castle walls for uninterrupted sunset photos facing the Black Sea.
- Avoid the busiest restaurants directly on the pier; walk two streets inland for fresher prices and homestyle cooking.
- If planning a private boat trip, agree price and exact duration before boarding, or choose scheduled local ferries for lower cost.

4.0Arrived at 8am and had almost no crowd. Quiet walk along the marina, coffee about 20 TL and the sunrise over the water was worth it.
Stopped by after lunch and it was very crowded. Souvenir shops were expensive, promenade nice but not worth a long detour in my opinion.
Visited at 3pm, the quay was busy with locals. Parking was around 10 TL, walking is free, short boat rides felt a bit overpriced at 60 TL but views were nice.
