Korte feiten: De Sunken Garden van het paleis werd in 2017 omgetoverd tot een monument voor prinses Diana, met 4.000 seizoensbloemen die op verschillende momenten van het jaar bloeien. Jaarlijks passeren ruim 500.000 bezoekers de smeedijzeren hekken, velen in de hoop een royal te zien zwaaien vanaf het balkon of een fotomoment van een koninklijke baby buiten de nabijgelegen Lindo Wing.
Hoogtepunten: Het paleis heeft nog steeds een functionerende wasserij die het linnengoed van de koningin met de hand perst met een 150 jaar oude mangel, en je kunt soms de lavendelstijfsel ruiken die door de staatsievertrekken zweeft. Boven is er een geheime deur vermomd als boekenkast waardoor het koninklijke personeel ooit onopgemerkt tussen de vleugels kon bewegen, een truc uit het victoriaanse tijdperk die bezoekers vandaag de dag nog steeds voor de gek houdt.
