Fatos rápidos: The walls and domes are covered with thousands of hand-glazed blue star tiles that shimmer in the sunlight like the night sky. Japanese and Indian masters brought these tiles specially from Japan and Delhi at the end of the 19th century.
Destaques: Although the building looks like a typical Muslim mosque, its domes are decorated not with crescent moons but with Star of David motifs, a rare, almost unseen example of syncretism in Dhaka's architecture. Every evening as the sun sets, the star tiles begin to glow with a bluish-violet reflection, as if the mosque were lighting up from within.
