Melhor época para visitar
Early morning or late afternoon is the best time, as the peak moments of high tide and low tide offer the most dramatic views and birdwatching opportunities. The winter months (November to February) bring the largest flocks of migratory birds.
Dicas para economizar
The visit is free, but a local boatman's service from the nearest village to the island costs about 200-300 Bangladeshi taka. Bring your own snacks and water, as there are no kiosks nearby.

Sobre
Fatos rápidos: In spring, thousands of migratory birds gather here, making a longer stop on their journey to Siberia and back. The mangrove forests provide a habitat for rare crab species, some of which have only recently been discovered by scientists.
Destaques: During high tide, the island almost completely disappears underwater, and as the water recedes, a soft muddy landscape is revealed, covered with the cross-shaped tracks of thousands of crabs. At dusk, the sky turns a pinkish purple and fish eagles glide above the mangroves, hunting in these waters.
Dicas de quem conhece
- Wear old sneakers or sandals, as the muddy ground can ruin more expensive footwear.
- Bring binoculars, as migratory birds are best observed from the shade of the mangroves, not from an open area.
- Local boatmen know exactly when to set off to reach the island just as the tide begins to go out.
- The morning sun creates the best light for photos; at midday the light is too harsh and the birds stay away.
