Fatos rápidos: Estendendo-se por mais de 1,2 quilômetros, essas fortificações medievais outrora envolviam toda a cidade antiga num abraço protetor de pedra. Quase 80 por cento das muralhas originais permanecem intactas, tornando-as um dos sistemas de muralhas urbanas mais bem preservados da Eslováquia.
Destaques: Ao contrário da maioria das muralhas medievais que foram demolidas para o desenvolvimento urbano, estas sobreviveram porque os locais transformaram seções nas paredes dos fundos de suas casas e jardins. Caminhe pelo caminho estreito ao lado delas e você ainda pode avistar frestas de flechas originais e um baluarte renascentista do século XVI com paredes com mais de dois metros de espessura.
