Fatos rápidos: Mais de 300 cavidades foram escavadas na face de tufo vulcânico deste penhasco de 80 metros de altura, formando o maior celeiro pré-hispânico das Ilhas Canárias. Os canários indígenas armazenavam cevada e trigo aqui, usando o controle natural de umidade da pedra porosa para manter os grãos frescos durante o inverno.
Destaques: Os primeiros colonizadores espanhóis confundiram as centenas de aberturas de cavernas com um convento e o chamaram de Cenobio, mas os locais o conheciam como o antigo banco de alimentos da ilha. Cada cavidade era selada com uma laje de pedra e argila, criando silos individuais que podiam armazenar grãos suficientes para alimentar famílias inteiras durante as estações difíceis.
