Fatos rápidos: Todos os domingos, a praça principal de paralelepípedos se transforma no mais autêntico mercado de agricultores de Gran Canaria, onde agricultores vendem queijo, amêndoas e mel diretamente de seus caminhões. A cidade é o coração religioso da ilha, abrigando a Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Pinheiro, que atrai milhares de peregrinos em setembro para a Fiesta del Pino.
Destaques: No primeiro domingo de setembro, os locais carregam uma estátua de prata de 60 quilos da Virgem pelas ruas ladeadas por casas canárias de 300 anos, com suas varandas ornamentadas com linho bordado à mão. A estátua do pinheiro na basílica é na verdade esculpida em uma única peça de madeira da árvore original onde pastores afirmam que a Virgem apareceu em 1481.

- Climb the bell tower of the basilica for a rooftop view of the town and surrounding mountains, it costs just a couple of euros.

- Visit the Casa Museo de los Patronos de la Virgen, a 17th-century Canarian mansion with original furniture and an interior courtyard.
