- Rent a kayak or rowboat to see the castle from the lake - the view from the water is unmatched.
- Visit the Karaite kiosk in the center of Trakai for authentic kibinai (minced meat in dough) before you leave.
- The inside of the castle has long queues at noon - arrive right after opening or after 4:00 PM for peace and quiet.
- Wear shoes with good grip if you plan to climb the towers - the stairs are narrow and made of wrought wood.
