Best in the morning right after opening at 9:00 AM, when the crowds are smallest and the morning light beautifully illuminates the Gothic windows in the knights' hall. In autumn, the surrounding forests burst with colors, which enhances the atmosphere of the entire grounds.

Rýchle fakty: Ročne sem zavíta vyše 600 tisíc návštevníkov, ktorí chcú na vlastné oči vidieť miesto spojené s legendou o Draculovi. V skutočnosti tu Vlad Napichovač, ktorý údajne slúžil ako predloha pre upírskeho grófa, nikdy nebýval - hrad slúžil hlavne ako colná pevnosť a kráľovské sídlo.

Zaujímavosti: Na nádvorí sa dodnes nachádza pôvodná kamenná studňa hlboká 60 metrov, ktorú kedysi ručne vyhĺbili tureckí zajatci. V pivničných priestoroch uvidíte tajnú chodbu, ktorá spájala hrad s okolitými lesmi a slúžila ako úniková cesta pre kráľovskú rodinu.

Instead of standing in the hour-long line at the main gate, use the side entrance through Queen Marie's Tea House. It is almost line-free.
The best photo of the castle is taken from the viewpoint by the road below the castle, where the entire silhouette including the towers is in the frame.
It is not worth buying souvenirs from the first stall at the castle. A few meters further in the foothills, they sell them for half the price.
