- The mammoth skeleton on the ground floor is the real deal, not a cast; ask staff which bones were actually found together in the permafrost.
- Skip the English audioguide if you're in a hurry: the Russian text panels have much more detail, and Google Lens translation works fine.
- Visit the second-floor balcony area for a close-up look at the carved ceiling rosettes, which many visitors miss entirely.
- The museum shop sells excellent Soviet-era poster reproductions and local birch bark crafts for under 500 RUB.
