Anderkilla Shahi Jame Mosque
أفضل وقت للزيارة
Visit late afternoon (3:30-5:00 PM) when the sun casts warm light across the domes and the courtyard is quieter. Friday mornings see larger crowds for prayers, so avoid those hours for a peaceful experience.
نصائح للميزانية
Entry is free as it's an active mosque. Donations are optional but appreciated; consider contributing 20-50 BDT to the maintenance box near the entrance.

حول
حقائق سريعة: Three domes crown the prayer hall, each topped with striking terracotta ornamentation that glows amber in the late afternoon sun. The mosque's western wall once connected to a Mughal-era fort complex, making it one of the few surviving fort-mosques in Bangladesh.
النقاط البارزة: Inside, a single 300-year-old tamarisk tree stands in the courtyard, its gnarled branches framing the entrance perfectly for photos at golden hour. Locals believe the tree was planted by a Sufi saint who once meditated here, and you'll still find tiny prayer papers wedged into its bark.
نصائح من الداخل
- Remove your shoes before stepping onto the marble platform outside the prayer hall, not just at the main door.
- Stand at the southwestern corner of the courtyard for the best photo: all three domes line up perfectly against the sky.
- Visit on a Thursday evening when the mosque lights up with soft green illumination for a completely different atmosphere.
- Bring a light scarf or shawl; women are expected to cover their heads while inside the prayer area.
