حقائق سريعة: هذه القلعة تحملت الضربة الرئيسية في الدقائق الأولى من الحرب الوطنية العظمى، وصمد مدافعوها بدون ماء وطعام لمدة شهر تقريباً. الجدران لا تزال مليئة بآثار الرصاص، وأحد المداخل، بوابة خولمو، تتألق بطوبها المصقول بالفحم.
النقاط البارزة: يمتد تحت القلعة شبكة من الأنفاق السرية بطول 8 كيلومترات، كان المدافعون يتحركون عبرها سراً بين المعاقل. في عام 1965، مُنحت القلعة لقب "القلعة البطلة". ثلاثة أماكن فقط في البلاد كلها تحمل هذا اللقب.
نصائح من الداخل
- Bring water and snacks: the territory is huge, and there are few cafés inside.
- Photograph the Cholm Gate early in the morning, when there are no shadows and the light is best.
- Do not miss the Birch Alley, with unique Soviet memorials, and the silence surprises the most.
- If you want to avoid the crowds, avoid May 9th and June 22nd, as there are hundreds of people here on those days.
