حقائق سريعة: قمم الحجر الجيري المسننة تشكل أفقا دراماتيكيا، والمروج العالية تضيء بأزهار الألب، والهواء حاد برائحة الصنوبر والحجر البارد. تحتضن الحفر الجليدية عشرات البحيرات الجبلية الصافية التي تلتقط شروق الشمس كالمرايا الصغيرة، بينما تخفي الغابات القديمة الأيل البري والطيور الألبية النادرة.
النقاط البارزة: قمة ارتفاعها 2914 مترا تسمى فيهرين ترتفع فوق المنحدرات، وغالبا ما ترتدي قبعة من الثلج المصقول بالرياح حتى في الصيف مما يعطي السلسلة كلها حافة فضية. يمكن للمتنزهين أن يصادفوا أشجار الصنوبر البوسني القديمة التي يتجاوز قطر جذوعها مترا واحدا ولحاء راتينجي تفوح برائحة الليمون ودخان الخشب عن قرب.

- Wear sturdy waterproof boots and layers, mountain weather changes fast above the tree line.
- Start hikes before sunrise from Bansko or Hvoyna to avoid crowds on Vihren and Koncheto.
- Photograph Popovo and Tevno Lakes from the eastern shores for mirror reflections at dawn.
- Reserve hut beds in summer and carry a basic first-aid kit and extra water, mobile signal is patchy.
