أفضل وقت للزيارة

Clear late afternoons offer the longest light and the most dramatic sunsets over the valley. Mornings are calmer with fewer walkers on the trails.

نصائح للميزانية

The whole hillside is free public parkland, so entry costs nothing. Bring your own water and snacks; the nearest refreshment stops sit down in the valley.

حول

حقائق سريعة: Wartime air raids flattened so many buildings that their rubble raised this ridge by about 40 meters. Nearly 1.5 million cubic meters of debris now cap the 511-meter summit, with broken stair steps and window frames poking through the soil.

النقاط البارزة: Look down at your feet as you reach the plateau and you'll spot carved balustrades and colonnade pieces that once fronted grand city buildings. The top is crowned with a cross placed in 1954, and trails through the gray rubble are flecked with red bricks and shattered window glass.

نصائح من الداخل

  • Wear grippy shoes, since the upper paths are steep gravel that turns slick after rain.
  • Take binoculars to identify the TV tower and other distant landmarks from the summit.
  • Come with a local friend who can point out which rubble chunks came from which bombed neighborhoods.
  • Skip the busiest midday hours on weekends and aim for a weekday evening instead.
