حقائق سريعة: أسسها مستوطنون يونانيون عام 734 قبل الميلاد، وكانت في الواقع أول مستوطنة يونانية في جزيرة صقلية بأكملها. دُمّرت المدينة بالكامل على يد ديونيسيوس الأول ملك سيراكيوز عام 403 قبل الميلاد ولم يُعَد بناؤها أبداً، تاركاً الأطلال متجمدة في الزمن تماماً كما كانت عند هجرها.
النقاط البارزة: تجوّل بين أساسات حيّ سكني يعود إلى القرن الخامس قبل الميلاد حيث لا يزال بإمكانك تتبع ملامح الغرف والشوارع الفردية وحتى نظام الصرف القديم. يحدث السحر الحقيقي في الربيع حين تتفتح الأزهار البرية بين الأطلال الحجرية، مع جبل إتنا المتربع بشكل درامي في الخلفية والبحر الأيوني المتلاطم على بعد خطوات فقط.
