حقائق سريعة: نحت مايكل أنجلو هذا التمثال المهيب ليكون القطعة المركزية لضريح البابا يوليوس الثاني، وهو مشروع عمل عليه لأربعة عقود رغم أنه لم يكتمل بالكامل أبدًا. يأتي رأس التمثال ذو القرون الشهيرة من ترجمة خاطئة للكتاب المقدس، حيث تُرجمت الكلمة العبرية التي تعني "أشعة الضوء" إلى "قرون" في النسخة اللاتينية المعروفة بالفولجاتا.
النقاط البارزة: يحدث السحر الحقيقي عندما تقترب بدرجة كافية لترى التفاصيل في اللحية، والأوردة المنتفخة في الذراعين، والنظرة الحادة التي تقول الأسطورة إن مايكل أنجلو نفسه ضربها بإزميله صارخًا "تكلّم!" يُظهر التمثال موسى في منتصف حركته، ممسكًا بلحيته بأصابع متشابكة، متجمدًا بالضبط في اللحظة التي يوشك فيها على النهوض، وهو ما يمنح التمثال كله توترًا كهربائيًا يمكنك أن تشعر به من عبر الغرفة.

- The short walk up Via Cavour from the Colosseum metro station takes about 10 minutes and passes some nice cafes for a coffee break
- Skip trying to take a selfie up close, the glass barrier and dim lighting make for poor phone photos, instead photograph the full figure from the side angle.
