حقائق سريعة: تقع هذه المنارة الصغيرة التي تعود للقرن التاسع عشر في أقصى الطرف الجنوبي من جزيرة mujeres، معلنة المكان الذي يلتقي فيه البحر الكاريبي بخليج المكسيك. لا تزال عدستها الأصلية تُرسل الضوء لمسافة 15 ميلاً بحرياً في البحر، لتوجيه السفن عبر المياه المليئة بالشعاب المرجانية منذ عام 1905.
النقاط البارزة: عند شروق الشمس، تلقي المنارة بظل طويل عبر منحدرات بونتا سور الصخرية حيث تطفو السلاحف البحرية على السطح للتنفس في الأسفل. يقول السكان المحليون إن حارس المنارة الأصلي زرع أشجار النخيل المحيطة في عام 1910، وتباعد بينها بدقة بحيث تلتقط كل واحدة ضوء الصباح عبر نوافذ البرج.

- Wear sturdy sandals or water shoes, the rocky path to the lighthouse gets slippery from sea spray.
- Skip the midday visit when the sun is directly overhead and shadows hide the reef colors below.
- Bring a wide-angle lens, the lighthouse tower against the ocean horizon makes for a striking vertical shot.
- Visit right after a storm passes, the air clears and you can see Cozumel island 12 miles across the water.
