حقائق سريعة: مرتفعة على نتوء صخري يطل على خليج عمان، بنى البرتغاليون هذه القلعة أصلاً في ثمانينيات القرن السادس عشر لحماية ميناء مسقط. برجا المراقبة التوأم وموقعها الجرفي الدرامي كانا يضمان مدافع يمكنها إطلاق طلقات تحذيرية عبر الخليج بأكمله.
النقاط البارزة: على عكس معظم الحصون التي تبدو كمتاحف مغبرة، لا يزال في هذه القلعة جسر متحرك يعمل والمدافع البرتغالية الأصلية موجهة نحو البحر. اصعد السلالم الضيقة إلى السطح عند غروب الشمس وشاهد أضواء المدينة تتلألأ عبر الميناء أدناه.

- Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes as the stone stairways are steep, uneven, and can be slippery after rain.
- Head to the northeastern tower for the best photo of the fort against the sea and the old city walls below.
- Combine your visit with a walk along the nearby corniche and a stop at the adjacent Al Mirani Fort for a fuller experience.
- Go early on a weekday morning to have the fort nearly to yourself before tour groups arrive around 10 AM.
