حقائق سريعة: تعيش هنا أسماك الأمازون العملاقة مثل سمكة البايشي التي يمكن أن يصل طولها إلى 3 أمتار ووزنها 200 كيلوغرام. تشكلت البحيرة من ذراع نهر ميت وتحيط بها غابة مطيرة كثيفة تعيش فيها قرود العواء والكسلان.
النقاط البارزة: في محطة الحيوانات يتم رعاية الحيوانات اليتيمة أو المنقذة من الصيد غير المشروع، ومنها فرس نهر أليف يُدعى بيبي يسمح للزوار بمداعبته. يؤدي مسار التعلم الذي يبلغ طوله 1.3 كيلومتر عبر الغابة المطيرة إلى برج مراقبة يُطل على البحيرة بأكملها وقمم الأشجار.

- Pack swimwear and cool off in the dark lagoon after the zoo visit; it is one of the few clean swimming spots in Iquitos.
- The feeding of the Amazon river dolphins takes place daily at 10:30 AM and is the best time for photos.
- Apply insect repellent generously; the insects are especially active in the morning and evening hours.
- It is more crowded on weekends; during the week you almost have the place to yourself.
