Late afternoon around 4-5 PM, when the golden sunlight casts dramatic shadows across the ancient stonework and the crowds thin out. Spring and fall offer comfortable temperatures for walking the full circuit.

The wall perimeter is free to walk along from the outside at any time. The Passeig Arqueològic (Archaeological Walkway) that runs alongside parts of the wall requires a small entry fee, around 3-4 euros, and is covered by the Tarragona Tourist Pass.

Visit on a Sunday morning when the Passeig Arqueològic is nearly empty and you'll have stretches of the wall all to yourself.
Wear sturdy shoes with grip because the ancient stone paths can be uneven and slippery after rain.
