حقائق سريعة: نجت مئذنة كاليان التي يبلغ ارتفاعها 45.6 متراً من تدمير جنكيز خان لمدينة بخارى عام 1220، وكان الفاتح معجباً بها لدرجة أنه أمر بإبقائها. يمكن للمجمع بأكمله استيعاب أكثر من 12000 مصلٍ في وقت واحد واستغرق بناؤه المستمر عبر سلالات مختلفة ما يقرب من 200 عام ليكتمل.

- Climb the 105 spiral steps of the minaret only if you're comfortable with narrow, dark passages and no handrails.
- Arrive for dawn when the complex opens to locals for prayer and you'll have the courtyard nearly to yourself.
- Skip the souvenir stalls inside the complex and buy from the vendors outside the eastern wall for better prices.
