- Wear water shoes: the beach is sharp pebbles, not sand, and you will want to wade straight from the abbey steps.
- Photograph the cloister in late afternoon when sunlight cuts through the slate columns and hits the floor mosaic at an angle.
- Skip the overpriced café on the beachfront; bring your own lunch and eat on the rocks past the boathouse.
- Arrive by the 9 AM ferry from Camogli to avoid the 11 AM tour-boat crush.
