Rabindra Complex
Mejor época para visitar
It is best to come in the morning around 9-10 AM, before the midday heat and before larger groups arrive. February is an ideal month because cultural festivities in honor of Tagore's stay are held then.
Consejos para el presupuesto
The entrance ticket costs only 20 taka for local visitors, and around 100 taka for foreigners (less than 1 euro). There are no special discounts, but the ticket is so cheap that it will not break your budget.

Datos rápidos: The complex is home to the former estate of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, with a dilapidated yet poetic atmosphere that you feel the moment you step into the courtyard. The wooden furniture and objects from the original household still stand exactly as they were left, built in the 1920s.
Destacados: In the courtyard grows a mango tree that Tagore personally planted in 1926, and its fruits still fall on the same ground where the poet walked. Every February, local children sing his songs right on the spot where he sat and wrote, and that sight leaves you breathless.
Consejos de expertos
- Bring mosquito netting because there are quite a lot of mosquitoes around the garden in the afternoon hours.
- The best photo is in front of the mango tree Tagore planted, in the early morning light.
- Skip the guide if you are an independent traveler; the signs on the objects are informative and sufficient.
- Wear light cotton clothing and closed shoes because the floor in the house is made of cold stone.
