Datos rápidos: La ascensión cubre un desnivel vertical de unos 800 metros, y el sendero atraviesa tres zonas de vegetación diferentes hasta la cima a 1.050 metros. En un día despejado desde aquí se ven la Laguna Toro, la bahía Última Esperanza y hasta 150 kilómetros de glaciares a lo lejos.
Destacados: Las hayas de la cima están torcidas por los vientos del oeste hasta 45 grados, y una antigua pirámide geodésica de piedra se esconde entre ellas en la misma cumbre. En medio de un silencio total, interrumpido solo por el viento y el tintineo de los cencerros de las ovejas abajo, la vista abarca toda la cadena de Torres del Paine desde 1.050 metros de altura.

- Wear trekking shoes with good grip, because the forested part of the trail is loose and very steep 30 minutes below the summit.
- Ten minutes before the summit, look for a stone platform with a panorama of Laguna Toro, the ideal secluded photo spot.
- Set out by 9 a.m., because on the trail you encounter the fewest people and the light is best for photos.
- Avoid the hike after a rainy night, because the muddy stretches become slippery and make the ascent tricky.
