Datos rápidos: Las lagunas se alimentan del agua de deshielo de los dos volcanes y brillan a más de 4 100 metros sobre el nivel del mar. El color cambia de turquesa a azul profundo cuando la luz varía, mientras que especies de flamencos andinos suelen alimentarse en la orilla.
Destacados: A las ocho de la mañana el hielo está como un vidrio frágil sobre el agua de la orilla, y cada paso en la grava se escucha como un crujido en el silencio total. Una caracara suele sobrevolar la cresta mientras tienes el pico de Miñiques, de 5 910 metros de altura, justo al lado.

- Take a spot at the viewpoint below the parking lot first, where the whole double lagoon and the volcanoes fit in one picture.
- Pack warm clothes and a hat in your backpack, the temperature can be below freezing even in the middle of summer.
- Go on a weekday and as early as possible, then you will have the lagoons almost to yourself before the group buses roll in around ten.
- Skip the line at the toilet at the entrance, use the facilities in Toconao before the trip instead.
